SUBJECT TIMETABLE AND REGISTERING FOR CLASSES
In summary
You have access to a personalised, online class timetable tool to create and manage your own class timetable. This can be accessed via the Student Portal, under the Timetable tab.
Class registration allocates you to available classes. In most cases, class registration needs to be arranged manually by you.
You should be able to:
- generate a clash-free timetable,
- view or make changes to pre-allocated classes, or
- build your timetable from scratch.
Timetable and venue information will not be available in printed format at the Melbourne School of Design Student Centre.
Creating your timetable
It is your responsibility to ensure that your registrations produce a clash-free timetable where possible.
Many subjects have multiple timetable options due to their high enrolment numbers, while others have significantly reduced timetabling options because of the smaller number of enrolled students.
While the University and Melbourne School of Design Student Centre will try to help you arrange the most convenient timetable available, it is not always possible to organise a timetable that is perfect.Occasionally clashes occur that cannot be resolved and at other times there may not be space available in a specific class or prac you want to take.
As always, if you need help or advice, contact the Melbourne School of Design Student Centre.

What is a Waiting List?
Some subjects within the Student Timetable will allow you to waitlist for a particular class if it is already full.
Once all class places have been released, you may be able to place yourself on a waiting list for a preferred class.Note: you may not waitlist for a preferred class if you are already registered for another class.Waiting lists will close a few days before the start of the semester.
If a spot in the class opens up, the person at the top of the waitlist will move into the spot in the class. To get on a waitlist, follow the same process you would to register as normal - click on the tickbox for the class you want to waitlist for and press save. You may not register in another class for the same activity.
If you are on a waitlist in the last two days before semester starts, you should remove yourself from the waitlist and complete your registration in a class that is available to you.
