MASTER OF DESIGN (URBAN DESIGN)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Master of Design (Urban Design) is a post-professional course for those with an existing qualification in the disciplines represented in the Melbourne School of Design (or related), plus relevant work experience. It allows professionals to enhance existing qualifications through advanced studies in urban design.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Entry into the Master of Design (Urban Design) requires:

  • a four-year undergraduate degree in a cognate discipline with a weighted average of at least H3 (65%) in the final two years, or a masters degree in a cognate discipline with a weighted average of at least H3 (65%), or equivalent, and
  • at least one year of documented relevant professional work experience or training.
  • a portfolio of recent design work, submitted in accordance with the requirements of the
    Selection Committee

The Selection Committee may conduct interviews and tests and may call for referee reports and employer references to elucidate any of the matters referred to above.

Documented evidence of relevant professional experience

Applicants must provide the following documentation in support of their application for the recognition of prior professional experience:

  • brief curriculum vitae, detailing work experience
  • contact details of two referees, and,
  • a covering letter outlining the applicants professional background and how this prepares them to successfully undertake the program.

Design folio requirements
The design portfolio must be presented in hard copy. Eight to ten A4 or A3 clear and legible photocopies are sufficient. Where design work has been produced jointly, applicants must indicate their role in the production of the design.
