AND LECTURE SERIES 2011
AND is an informal series of talks run by students in the early years of their studies in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. It is an opportunity for students to invite speakers from the professions that they are interested in to speak about their work in an informal setting.

Matt Gibson, Matt Gibson Architecture and Design

Matt Gibson Architects has been regarded as one of the Melbourne’s best young architectural practice and has won several awards. They are interested in the primal experience nature in people and also the light, materialy and pattern of movement. Philosophically, the practice also aspires to engage with issues of culture, historical context and social aspects in design.

Mark Healy - Director, Six Degrees Architects

Six Degrees is a Melbourne based architecture firm formed in the early 1990s by six architecture graduates, of which Mark Healy is one. Six Degrees has become renowned for its innovative work on a wide variety of scales. They have been influential in the development of Melbourne's laneway culture, which began with the Meyers Place bar and continues to grow. A diverse body of work now includes urban design, residential, commercial and institutional projects. They have worked continuously on urban reclamation projects, from City Square to the Vaults Precinct on the Yarra adjacent to Federation Square.

Andrew Maynard

Andrew Maynard is one of the most talented and successful Melbourne based practitioners. His dynamic and imaginative design is a great instance of fully developed creative concepts and ideas. Moreover, Andrew's capacities to design has led to the realisation of architectural pieces particularly in residential projects such as the Tattoo and Vader houses.

David Luck

David Luck is an extremely talented Melbourne based practitioner who runs his own company mostly by himself. He gets his inspirations from fine arts and poetry. He is especially attracted by the close relationship that we encompass with nature and natural philosophies. The connection to heaven and earth also affects the way that he designs. Therefore, David luck stands as an extremely creative and enthusiastic designer with his own approach to design and architecture.
